Pathologist Assistants

As highly trained allied health professionals, Pathologists’ Assistants perform various services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist similar to a Physicians Assistants. Academically and practically trained, they assist the pathologist to provide accurate and timely processing of a variety of laboratory specimens. They prepare tissue for numerous pathological tests, including frozen section diagnosis, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemical staining. With our frozen section laboratory directly adjacent to operating room suites, our Pathologists’ Assistants have close proximity to the surgeons and operating room staff, which facilitates optimal communication between surgery and pathology.
